The Birds of Rye Meads
is a fascinating book which details the observations, status and prospects of all the birds known to have occurred at Rye Meads. It focuses on the period 1960-2000 for which detailed records exist, but also covers what is known from historical records.
There is even a bit of history about the site itself - did you know that Rye Meads was the location of the imfamous Rye House Plot to assassinate King Charles II and his heir to the throne, younger brother James?
This excellent and detailed work is only £5 - available at the RSPB Rye Meads Visitor Centre, or buy online here.
